Changelog

Every release notes the actual changes — features added, things removed, and the reasoning where it isn't obvious.

A journal entry rendered as formatted text.
2026-Q2

0.1.0 (in development)

Added

  • Vault creation, unlock, and recovery code (Argon2id + XChaCha20-Poly1305 + HKDF).
  • SQLite repository of per-entry ciphertext envelopes (title, body, tags) AAD-bound to entry UUID.
  • Content-addressed encrypted attachments with on-disk deduplication.
  • Full-text search across decrypted entries with BM25-flavored ranking.
  • Encrypted .ajbackup format with cross-vault restore.
  • Per-tag AI access controls (private / medical / therapy → device-only).
  • Decoy vault + panic-wipe.
  • Local lexicon-based sentiment scoring + daily prompt library.
  • Decision-journal entries with Brier-score calibration.
  • On-device AI: a small model (Qwen 2.5 0.5B via candle), downloaded once on first run, reflects with you offline — no account, no network.
  • On-device conversational reflection — a multi-turn reflective chat, streamed token-by-token, that never leaves your device; the transcript is selectable, so a reflection that lands can be copied straight into an entry.
  • Reflection styles: choose a gentle, Socratic, Stoic, or coach stance — all on-device, and the app remembers the one you prefer.
  • On-device AI summaries of your week or month in the Insights view.
  • Ask your journal: ask a question and the on-device AI answers from your own entries — formatted like the rest of the app and still selectable to copy — with tappable source citations; entries tagged #no-ai are never used.
  • Semantic search and 'Related entries' — find entries by meaning, not just keywords, fully on-device.
  • Search results highlight the words you matched, so it's clear at a glance why each entry came up.
  • Search and Related show a result count above the list, so you know how many entries matched before you start scanning.
  • Entries render as formatted text: a journal entry written with Markdown (headings, lists, checklists, **bold**, quotes) opens already rendered, with one tap to edit — your checkboxes become real tick-boxes you can check off right from the page, and reflection replies and AI summaries render formatted too.
  • A formatting toolbar in the editor: one tap for bold, italic, headings, bullet lists, numbered lists, checklists, or quotes — no need to type the Markdown by hand.
  • The template picker previews each template's sections beneath its title, so you see the shape of the entry before you pick it.
  • Made for desktop too: right-click menus, a comfortable centered reading width on wide windows, and keyboard shortcuts (new entry, search, save, bold, italic, send) — listed in Settings — on Windows, macOS, and Linux.
  • A longer journal pages back through every entry from the home timeline, and entry dates read in friendly terms — “Today · 3:24 PM”, “Yesterday”, or the weekday.
  • Tag housekeeping — rename, merge, or remove a tag across every entry at once, so your tags stay tidy as your journal grows.
  • Copy any weekly/monthly insight report or AI summary in one tap — to share with a coach or therapist, with no lock-in.
  • A gentle streak nudge the day your streak is at risk: when you haven't written yet but still can keep it going, Home reminds you — one tap to write.
  • One-tap mood logging, with a mood-coloured calendar, a year-in-pixels grid, mood trends and a sparkline, a 'what lifts your mood' insight, and browse-by-mood — see how you feel, computed entirely on-device.
  • Browse by date (a month calendar — tap the month title to jump to any month or year), pin your favourites with one tap, plus 'on this day' memories and a daily prompt on Home.
  • Guided multi-day CBT/ACT programs (Self-compassion, Values & action, Worry time) and a wired decision journal with Brier-score calibration.
  • Unlock with Face ID / fingerprint (opt-in), on top of your passphrase and recovery code; the vault auto-locks when the app leaves the foreground, after a 30-second grace by default so quick app switches don't need a re-unlock (Settings → Auto-lock also offers immediate, 1 minute and 5 minutes).
  • Pick your appearance — System, Light, or Dark — and a comfortable text size; both stick across restarts and the text size layers on top of your device's own accessibility scaling.
  • Graphophone Depth entitlement (monthly, yearly, or a one-time Lifetime Pass) with an authenticated-encrypted on-disk record. No advertising, on any tier.
  • Markdown export with deterministic date-stratified layout.
  • Flutter app: home, editor, onboarding, unlock, settings, search, network-call banner.
  • Marketing site: landing, features, privacy, pricing, security, FAQ, changelog, downloads.

Notes

  • The Flutter app runs on the real encrypted Rust core via flutter_rust_bridge on every platform, iOS and macOS included; a release-time check asserts the core's symbols survive into the shipped binary rather than being stripped back out.
  • v0.1 runs every reflection on-device. Bring-your-own-key cloud (OpenAI / Anthropic / OpenRouter streaming, opt-in per feature, never default) is implemented in the core and is on the near-term roadmap — it is not yet enabled in the app.
  • Memory anchors (geo + anniversary) and Shamir-split Legacy Mode exist in the core but are not yet surfaced in the app; they'll appear in a later release.
  • External security audit is scheduled before v1.0 GA.
